每月一次，及時阻斷幼蟲成長！犬心絲蟲是一種經由蚊子叮咬而傳播的線蟲，所引起的疾病稱為犬心絲蟲症。成蟲呈白色線狀，寄生在狗狗的心臟、肺臟和相關血管中，Heartgard Plus is a monthly oral pet med used as a combination heartworm preventive and intestinal wormer.

在犬隻體內存活時間約為5-7年，會破壞心肺組織，影響血液循環，進而損害其他器官。

預防之前的注意事項：

初次用藥，需先諮詢獸醫師並進行篩檢：為了幫狗狗建立完善的心絲蟲預防計畫．獸醫師必須和飼主討論過往的預防史，若飼主沒有定期幫狗狗進行心絲蟲預防，或從未使用預防藥，建議在處方心絲蟲預防藥之前，先進行篩檢。

七月齡以下的狗狗：可直接開始（或持續）每個月定期使用預防藥；心絲蟲篩檢的時間則在第一次給予預防藥的六個月後。

七月齡以上的狗狗：第一次給予預防藥之前應該做心絲蟲抗原和微絲蟲的篩檢，以利獸醫師依據結果，擬定防治計畫。每月定期用藥，持續達到預防效果！

定期篩檢之必要：每年定期篩檢是必要的，確保早期診斷感染，及時提供治療，降低心絲蟲對心肺的傷害。
